  • The story behind this doll character... she is from a Noh story called Matsukaze, which means, wind from pine forest at Suma lagoon. This girl is one of two sisters that loved the samurai Yukihira. The two sisters loved Yukihira and were waiting for him coming back from an island that was for political prisoners. Because of some misunderstanding, he'd made a samurai of superior rank very angry. The sisters waited for three years but he didn't come back. He died on the prison island. This girl is one of the sisters waiting for him, wearing his hat and dipping for sea water in the evening which gets the reflection of the moon in the pails. The moon is one (the samurai) but the two pails makes two shadows (the sisters) on the sand from the moon, so the moon makes two sisters love him.
