A black, silk haori, with gorgeous embroidered hanabishi (lozenge shaped flowers), with gold thread embroidered stems.
This is a hitotsu mon haori, which means it has one mon (crest) at centre back, making it a formal haori. The mon is ivy. The mon has tissue stitched on to protect it, which gets removed before use.
Awase (fully lined)
Any large white stitches on this haori are just shitsuke (large, loose, white, basting stitches). The Japanese put these in to keep the edges neat during storage; they are easy to remove and just get pulled out before wearing
Made and bought in Japan
In Japan, haori are not normally worn with a sash or belt, they are worn loosely, on top of a kimono and obi, but they also look great cinched in with a belt and worn with western world clothing.

Hitotsu mon. Garments with mon (crests) are divided into three types: itsutsu-mon (5 mon), mitsu-mon (3 mon) and hitotsu-mon (1 mon). The more mon it has, the more formal the occasion at which  it may be worn.
