Cotton Henro Jacket 1
  • A Japanese, Buddhist Henro jacket. This is a jacket a Buddhist pilgrim takes on their pilgrimage to Buddhist temples to get temple's stamps added to the jacket.
  • The Shikoku Eighty-Eight Sacred Places Pilgrimage is frequently referred to as henro. The centre of the island of Shikoku is mountainous, and the 88 temples are located mostly around the perimeter, although some are at or near the summit of mountains. Many pilgrims limit it to visiting 48 in the west of the island. The route is about 1,200 kilometres and takes about 6 weeks on foot. The temple stamps are of Bonji (Buddhist characters)
  • Cotton
  • Made and bought in Japan
  • Please be aware that different monitors display colour slightly differently. The colour in the photos and descriptions is a guide only
