Blue Kamishimo - A
  • A cotton kamishimo, comprising umanori (divided leg) hakama and kataginu. Kamishimo were worn by samurai and court men, the outfit consists of a hakama, and a sleeveless top with exaggerated shoulders (sometimes supported by bamboo strips and lined with paper) called a kataginu, which are worn over a formal kimono.
  • This kamishimo is cotton with a blue and white Edo komon print on it and white hanabishi mon (crests). Hanabishi is diamond shaped flower.
  • has some very noticeable discolouration along fold lines
  • Makes a fabulous wall hanging
  • Vintage. Date unknown but is Showa period
  • Made & bought in Japan
